God did not intend for us to experience pain, suffering and death. He designed us to live a life of joy and fellowship with him. In his desire for real relationship with us, however, he gave us the freedom to choose between life and…well, death. He gave us everything from the beginning, and we chose death—our own way.
Then, in a move so incomprehensible…
He chose us back.
He, in his great mercy did not punish me with separation; he, in his great grace gave me life everlasting. All of this he did even in my rebellion, faithlessness, inconsistency, pride, selfishness, deceit—my complete and total brokenness. Now, through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus I enjoy a personal, beautiful relationship with the Lord of the universe with whom I used to be separated.
Tell me that makes sense and I will laugh, because it doesn’t.
